Ecosystem Classification

Rare and Unusual Plants

The Taiga Plains with its many different climates and soil types also provides conditions that are conducive to some unusual and rare plants that one would not expect to encounter this far north.
On the Taiga Plains one may encounter small orchids and a variety of insect eating plants more commonly associated with warmer climates, and a strange looking plant that has no chlorophyll and survives by being parasitic on other trees.
