Forest Resources in the Northwest Territories

The Forest Resources section, of the Forest Management Division, is situated on the Hay River Dene Reserve, a community located next to Hay River, NWT.

The Forest Resources group gathers, collects and reports on all information pertaining to forest and timber resources in the Northwest Territories. The forest is a renewable and sustainable resource. The goal of Forest Resources is to put in place programming that ensures sustainability of forest use and report on our stewardship efforts. This includes developing materials to guide management and use of forest resources.

Specific program elements include monitoring forest health, capturing vegetation inventory information, assessing forest growth and depletions, checking activities that impact the forest to ensure that forests remain as valuable in the future as they are today.

Forest Resources invites you to check out this section using the links to the left.
